Lawson, Ph.B., B.D., "History and Genealogy of the Descendants of Clement Corbin of Muddy River (Brookline) Mass. and Woodstock, Conn."p.48 #37 "STEPHEN CORBIN (Elisha, James, Clement), "b. August 5, 1760, at Dudley, Massachusetts; m. Patience Martha Vinton, September 26, 1786; she was b. September 27,1767. He was a revolutionary soldier, enlisting Jan 2, 1781, for three years,--age 20, height 5 ft. 7 in., light complexion, -- in Capt. Coburn's Company, Col. Grant's Regiment. He received a bounty. Family tradition says that he was one of the guards present at the hanging of Major Andre. He went to Wardsboro, VT., where he resided in 1788. About 1817 he removed to Campbell, Steuben County, NY. He d. at Cooper Plains, NY, October 19, 1842. His wife d. November 21, 1846, at Cooper's Plains. His grandson, Dr. G.E. CORBIN of St. Johns, Michigan, furnishes the following reminiscences:
"During my childhood my grandparents lived on a farm about a mile from my home at Campbell, NY. My first distinct recollection of my grandfather was on one occasion when I was five years old and was taken up in the night 'to go and see grandpa'. I stayed there for two days and then I was told that I had a little sister at home whom I had never seen. Soon after this I went to live in grandfather's family, as it was much nearer school. Two years later, 1838, he was stricken with paralysis and was helpless until his death four years later. I often used to 'draw grandpa' in a rocking chair from his bed to the open fire, where as he sat, I often heard him tell incidents of his army life. This old soldier who had helped to win the liberties of America, received every care and attention possible in his last years."
