Biography
Felix Landis Sr. is of Swiss descent
Felix was baptised on 8 Jun 1673 in Hirzel, Zurich, Switzerald, with sponsors Felix Stocker and Elsbeth Zurich. [1][2] He is recorded in Hirzel on the censuses of 1678 (age 4),[3] 1682 (age 10).[4] and 1689 (age 16).[5]
Felix emigrated to Pennsylvania from the Palatinate, Germany in about 1717, settling in that portion of Chester County, Pennsylvania that was later formed into Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in 1729. [6][7] According to available land records, Felix and his wife, Rosina, acquired two 400 acre parcels of land in East Lampeter Township in Chester County from the London Company by deeds dated 19 & 20 February 1718. [8] Felix Landis, Sr. later sold one 400 acre parcel in Lampeter Township, which was totally bisected by Mill Creek, to Mr. John Binkley on 25 March 1737, and another 200 acre parcel in the same Township on 26 March 1737, also to Mr. Binkley. [9] On 25 March 1737, Felix Landis Jr. sold 200 acres in Lampeter Township to his parents, and on 26 March 1737, his parents sold Felix Landis, Jr., 200 acres of land in Lampeter Township. [9] Felix Binkley, the son of John Binkley, subsequently constructed a gristmill on the parcel that was sold to his father. [10]
Felix Landis died in 1739 in Lampeter Township in what was then Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. His will, which had been written on 29 April 1737, was probated on 29 December 1739 before the Lancaster County Court. Felix's wife, Rosina, is known to have survived him, and is believed to have also died in Lampeter Township in Lancaster County. The below listed children were named in Felix's will. [11]
