Bio: In German the Snyder name is spelled Schneider, then in English its Snyder, he died 10 yrs after hs wife, thats why her stone & name in German, his he had in English/Snyder.he is my 5 th greatgrandfather.I was informed he enlisted , but never served in Rev War.from Snyder co. Veterans affairs, per Mr .Rogar Snook, yet I just got this note today, 6/25/14 Please READ:On your site you say that no one can prove John Snyder was in the Rev War. I am a member of the DAR and we have him listed as serving under Capt Henry Ferree and Col Franceis Jacob Remer of the 5th Battalion York County Militia 1779. His spouse is listed as Elizabeth Beitzel. You can look up his record under Genealogy Services on the DAR website. I thought you'd be pleased to know he did serve. Loretta.
