From Dow’s History of the Town of Hampton:

I liorn about 15 the ancestor of all the Hampton Marstons was married and had several children before his emigration He came to Hamilton soon after the settlement was commenced Land was grunted to him as early as June 30 1640 and it is probable that a house lot had been assigned to him earlier lived near the present site of the town house now owned by Frank Green There are reasons for believing that he had a wife living in 1651 and that she died not many years afterward He died June 30 1672 leaving a widow named Sabina who was the executrix of his will She had borne him one child but it is evident that his other children were by a former marriage His widow married second Redman

“The Last Will and Testament of William Marston, Sr., of Hampton, N.H.--Being through the mercy of God of perfit & sound memory & vnderstanding as follweth: I bequeth my sould to Him that gave it, & my boddie to the earth,--I give to my eldest son Thomas Marston, five shillings, and to my son William Marston, five shillings, and to my son John Marston, five shillings, & to my daughter, Prudence Coxes, five shillings, to be paid within a twelef-month after my decease. '''All the rest of my estate, goods, chattelles, debtes, moveables, & what else is in any manner appertaining, or belonging vnto me, I give vnto my daughter Trifana;''' & I doue make my beloved wife Sabina my sole excetketer vnto this my last will & testement, and for the confirmation hereof I have sett my hand & seall, the 25th of Juen one thousand six hundred seventy & two.

FATHER LISTED AS WILLIAM IN A HIGHLY PROBABLE SUCCESSION. He was naturalized; Captain. He was born in 1590 at Ormesby, Norfolk, England. He was the son of William (or Henry) Marston and (wife Of) Marston. William Marston married Sabrina Page, daughter of Robert Page and Lucia 'Lucy' Ward, in 1660 at Hampton, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, USA. The Essex Antiquarian was published from 1897 to 1909 by Sidney Perley and George Francis Dow, both noted Essex County Genealogists and Historians. The purpose and accomplishments of the Antiquarian are best described in the words of Perley and Dow, as published in the final edition Vol. 13, No. 4, October 1909:

"The Essex Antiquarian was purposed to fill a want. It was designed to be a leader in scientific historical research; and to present copies or abstracts of records and compilations in an exhaustive and systematic manner, so that as far as the publication extended further investigation along those lines would be needless. Repeated examinations of records tend to their destruction, and thousands of dollars have been spent locally upon the same records for the same purpose by various persons who were ignorant of costly examinations made by others. This purpose, if prosecuted, would preserve the records and make further expenditure of money and labor unnecessary. This has been the particular reason of the appearance of the genealogies in alphabetical order, the gravestone inscriptions, abstracts of the Salem and Ipswich quarterly court records and files, old Norfolk county records, all wills in the order of their probate, Essex Gazette notes, abstracts of titles to land, etc., as shown in Salem, Haverhill, Ipswich and Marblehead in 1700, and in Georgetown and Topsfield in 1800. During the thirteen years of its existence there have been published in The Essex Antiquarian genealogies of all families from Abbe to Brown; all gravestone inscriptions dated prior to the year 1800 in Amesbury, Andover, Beverly, Boxford, Bradford, Danvers, Essex, Georgetown, Gloucester, Groveland, Hamilton, Haverhill and Ipswich; all wills proved in the county prior to June, 1666; the record of the Essex County Revolutionary soldiers and sailors alphabetically to Brown; abstracts of the old Norfolk records to 1675; Salem and Ipswich quarterly court records and files to 1659; and abstracts of all records in the first ten volumes of the Suffolk county registry of deeds relating to Essex county persons and property, where parties resided or property was located in Essex county, covering the period prior to 1678." "He resided in Salem, Essex, Mass. about three years, receiving a grant of land in 1636 from the General Court of Massachusetts, but soon after went to Newbury, for a short time; in October 1638, to Winnecumet, where he with 55 others settled on lands granted them by the General Court of Massachusetts and they called the place Hampton, after the English home of part of the settlers, and by this name it was incorporated. His first wife lived until 1660. Then in 1662, when about seventy years old, he married a second time to Sabrina Page, aged 18, daughter of Robert and Lucia Page, of Ormesby St Margaret, Norfolk Co., England., by whom he had one daughter Tryphena."

Patriarch or the Hampton NH branch of the Marston family.
Member of Quaker faith. Arrived 1634 to Salem part of the Massachusetts Bay Colony with brothers Robert & John Marston. The only remaining line is that of William Marston through his son's William Jr & Thomas. He received a grant of land called Winnacunet by the Indians which was renamed Hampton of Norfolk county which later became part of New Hampshire when it was made a separate province.
