Additional information: LifeSketch: Clark Higley at age 17 moved with his family to New York and joined the church and moved to Kirtland, Ohio. He married Malinda Cheney and they worshiped in the Kirkland temple. Living on a farm the antagonism grew until the saints left for Missouri. Clark and his new wife and parents decided to join relatives in Buffalo Grove, Ill. where both families lived until 1843. They later moved to Jo Davis County, Ill and they lived there until his father died in 1846. Clark took his family and his mother to Glenwood Mills, Iowa and resided there until he made the trek west in an ox team and prairie schooner arriving in Salt Lake September 23, 1861. He first bought property in Kaysville then sold it and moved to Tooele, Utah. In his later years a confirmed cripple enfeeble in his old age, his courage and faith stayed firm. He declared he had nothing but good will to all men, considering the allotment in this life to him and his people, he acknowledges God’s hand in all things. Submitted to Daughters of Utah Pioneers Archive Salt Lake City, Utah "The Higleys and their Ancestry" by Mary Coffin Johnson (Ref: B10-9 Written 1892~1896) Clark married his first wife, Malinda Cheney, 17 Sep. 1837 at Kirtland, Lake, Ohio (they had 7 children). In 1852 the Higleys moved to Glenwood, Mills Co., Iowa where Malinda's father was living. In 1861 the family started for Utah; in Captain David Cannon's Company. They first settled in Kaysville, then after a short time, in the spring of 1863, they moved to Tooele. Clark Higley was among the first families entering Tooele County, Utah through the homesteading act, and was one of the first to plant alfalfa on his ranch. In Tooele he owned a boarding house and the first flour mill along with a good sized cattle ranch. Clark married his second wife, Eliza Ellen Goode, 1 Aug. 1863 at Salt Lake City, Endowment House (they had 8 children). A few years later Clark married his third wife, Amanda Thompson, 2 Dec. 1865 at Salt Lake City (they had 12 children). Clark is buried in the Tooele City Cemetery. LDS Pioneer Company: David H.
