Hi Patti,
How are you getting on with the Pestells?
I am in contact with Julie Noon in Torquay who seems to have info connecting the Bedfordshire Ps with the Norfolk Ps.
That would be a first!
I have also been looking at "British History On-line" and found some mention of Aymeric and Guy de Pestel (one 'L') who seem to have had Papal patronage for lands and church livings in England around 1350.!
I also found some info about a William Pestell who was the king's 'escheator', (a cross between a tax collector and official solicitor), c.1450. He was also a controller of (import taxes ?) at the port of Ipswich, not too far from Norfolk.
May be we will crack it one day?
