WILL written prior to his wife's death in 1794, proved 1807 The last Will and Testament of me JOHN WHITTAMORE of Pirton in the County of Hertford Farmer being of sound and disposing Mind Memory and Understanding. First I give and bequeath unto SARAH my beloved Wife (after all my just Debts and funeral Expences are fully paid satisfied and discharged) all my ready Money, Money out at Interest and Debts of all sorts to me oweing, and likewise all my Household Furniture, Wearing apparel, live and dead Stock and all my personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever. Also I give and bequeath all that Freehold Cottage Messuage or Tenement together with all the Land ad all other Appurtenances thereunto belonging lying and being at Pirton aforesaid which I myself now occupy unto SARAH my beloved Wife and if my said Wife shall hereafter be distressed I do hereby empower her to sell and dispose of the said Cottage as she shall think fit but and if my said Wife does not sell or dispose of the aforesaid Cottage then I will and bequeath the said Cottage with all the Appurtenances thereunto belonging after the Decease of my said Wife unto my Daughter ANN HORNET the wife of JAMES HORNET of Pirton aforesaid for her own separate Use only for and during the whole Term of her natural Life and after my said Daughter Ann Hornet's Decease Then I give and bequeath the aforesaid Cottage unto all the children of my said Daughter Ann Hornet share and share alike. And further my Will and Mind is that if my said Wife does not sell or dispose of the aforementioned Cottage then I give and bequeath unto my four children namely ELIZABETH the Wife of THOMAS WALKER of Pirton aforesaid SARAH the wife of WILLIAM SWAIN of Preston in the said County of Hertford, JOHN WHITTAMORE of Brachwood Green in the Parish of Kingwalden in the said County and MARY the wife of JAMES TITMAS of Pirton aforesaid the sum of three Pounds each of lawful Money to be paid by my Executor herein aforementioned out of the said Estate within six months after the decease of my said Wife And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint the said JAMES HORNET the sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament and do hereby revoke all former and other Wills by me made and do declare this to be my last Will and Testament. In Witnesse whereof I the said John Whittamore have to this my last Will and Testament written on three sides of one Sheet of Paper set my Hand and Seal the nineteenth Day of August in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety four.
