1891 aged 3, living near the Church in Pirton with his parents, David and Rose Burton, and siblings Beatrice R, Sidney C and Thomas. 1901 aged 13, living at Trumpington Street, Cambridge employed as a domestic page to a Cambridge University professor of Sanskrit. 1911 aged 23, living at Binfield Manor, Berkshire and employed there as footman. Later he was promoted to butler. 1917 Serjeant 200950. 2nd/4th Bn Princess Charlotte of Wales’s Royal Berkshire Regiment. Killed in action on Sunday 2 December 1917. Age 29. Born and lived Pirton.
