Isabel md. (1) Gilbert de Lacy, Lord of Meath in Ireland, whose parents were the renowned Walter de Laci and Margaret Braos. Gilbert died during his father's lifetime in 1230, and Walter's only heiresses were his two grand-daus., children of Gibert and Isabel: Margery and and Maud.
(2) John Fitz Geoffrey, they had two sons: John Fitzjohn, who died without issue abt. 6 Nov 1275 and Richard FitzJohn, who also died without issue. Of their daus. Maud died 16 Apr 1301.

Isabel Bigod, Lady of Shere (ca. 1212 – 1250) was an English noblewoman, the only dau. of Hugh Bigod, 3rd Earl of Norfolk wiki/Hugh_Bigod,_3rd_Earl_of_Norfolk.[1] She was the wife of Gilbert de Lacy, of Ewyas Lacy, and John FitzGeoffrey wiki/John_FitzGeoffrey, Lord of Shere.

Family
Isabel was born in Thetford, Norfolk wiki/Norfolk in abt. 1212, the only dau. of Hugh Bigod, 3rd Earl of Norfolk, a Magna Carta wiki/Magna_Carta surety, and Maud Marshal wiki/Maud_Marshal (1192 – 27 Mar 1248). Her paternal grand-parents were Roger Bigod, 2nd Earl of Norfolk wiki/Roger_Bigod,_2nd_Earl_of_Norfolk and Ida de Tosny, a former mistress of King Henry II of England wiki/Henry_II_of_England. Her maternal grand-parents were William Marshal, 1st Earl of Pembroke wiki/William_Marshal,_1st_Earl_of_Pembroke and Isabel de Clare, 4th Countess of Pembroke wiki/Isabel_de_Clare,_4th_Countess_of_Pembroke. She had four brothers including Roger Bigod, 4th Earl of Norfolk wiki/Roger_Bigod,_4th_Earl_of_Norfolk and Hugh Bigod wiki/Hugh_Bigod_(Justiciar). She also had two younger half-siblings John de Warenne, 7th Earl of Surrey wiki/John_de_Warenne,_7th_Earl_of_Surrey and Isabelle de Warenne, by her mother's second marriage to William de Warenne, 6th Earl of Surrey. wiki/William_de_Warenne,_6th_Earl_of_Surrey. Isabel's father had died in 1225.

Marriages and issue
In 1225, the year of her father's death, Isabel md. her first husband, Gilbert de Lacy wiki/index.php?title=Gilbert_de_Lacy_(d._1230)&action=edit&redlink=1, of Ewyas Lacy (ca. 1202 – 25 Dec 1230). He was the son of Walter de Lacy wiki/Walter_de_Lacy, Lord of Trim Castle wiki/Trim_Castle and Ludlow Castle wiki/Ludlow_Castle, and Margaret de Braose wiki/Margaret_de_Braose. Gilbert and Isabel's chief residence was Ewyas Lacy in Herefordshire wiki/Herefordshire; however, they spent the last two years of their marriage on his father's estates in Ireland wiki/Ireland, where their youngest child, Maud was born, and Gilbert would shortly afterwards die. Together they had three children:[2]

Maud de Lacy wiki/Maud_de_Lacy,_Baroness_Geneville (1230, Dublin wiki/Dublin, Ireland[3]- 11 Apr 1304 Trim Castle, Ireland), md. firstly Pierre de Geneve, by whom she had issue; in 1252, she md. secondly Geoffrey de Geneville, 1st Baron Geneville wiki/index.php?title=Geoffrey_de_Geneville,_1st_Baron_Geneville&action=edit&redlink=1, Seigneur de Vaucouleurs, by whom she had two sons, Geoffrey de Geneville, and Sir Piers de Geneville wiki/index.php?title=Piers_de_Geneville&action=edit&redlink=1, father of Joan de Geneville, 2nd Baroness Geneville wiki/Joan_de_Geneville,_2nd_Baroness_Geneville.
Gilbert died on 25 Dec 1230 at Trim Castle, in County Meath, Ireland leaving Isabel a widow at the age of eighteen with three small children. Sometime bef. 12 Apr 1234, Isabel md. her second husband, John FitzGeoffrey wiki/John_FitzGeoffrey, Lord of Shere, Justiciar of Ireland wiki/Justiciar_of_Ireland. The marriage produced six children:[4][5]
Richard FitzJohn of Shere (died 1297, md. Emma John FitzJohn of Shere (died 1275), md. Margery Basset Maud FitzJohn wiki/Maud_FitzJohn (died 16/18 Apr 1301), md. firstly Gerald de Furnivalle, Lord of Hallamshire; she md. secondly William de Beauchamp, 9th Earl of Warwick wiki/William_de_Beauchamp,_9th_Earl_of_Warwick, by whom she had issue.
Aveline FitzJohn (died ca. 20 May 1274), md. Walter de Burgh, 1st Earl of Ulster wiki/Walter_de_Burgh,_1st_Earl_of_Ulster, by whom she had issue including Richard Og de Burgh, 2nd Earl of Ulster wiki/Richard_Og_de_Burgh,_2nd_Earl_of_Ulster.
Joan FitzJohn (died 4 Apr 1303), md. Theobald le Botiller (1242 - 1285 of Thurles wiki/Thurles, Nenagh wiki/Nenagh, by whom she had issue. Joan and Theobald were the ancestors of the Butler Earls of Ormond wiki/Earls_of_Ormond.
Isabel FitzJohn, md. Robert de Vispont, Lord of Westmoreland by whom she had two daus.
In early 1241, Isabel's eldest son by her first husband died. Upon the death of her former father-in-law, Walter de Lacy shortly afterwards on 24 Feb, the vast de Lacy estates and lordships were passed down to Margery and Maud, her daus. by Gilbert. Their marriages were personally arranged by King Henry III wiki/Henry_III_of_England to ensure that the estates they inherited were retained in the hands of trusted servants of the Crown.[6]
Isabel Bigod died in 1250. She was about thirty-eight years old. Her second husband John died eight years later.
