Notes par Duane Elwood Imlah

Marriage to Myrtle Swatman ended in divorce. Marriage to Joy ended in divorce after two children. While married, the couple lived in Cloverdale, Oregon Marriage to Irene Huber ended in divorce At the age of 13 or 14 Duane went to work for a neighbor who refused to pay him for the work at the end of the day. The reason being that Duane was too young to pay. Duane then proceeded home to get his rifle, but when he got back to the neighbors there was nobody home. After he left the neighbor's home and started across the pasture to his home, there were some young stock that were feeding in the field, so he shot four of them, thinking they belonged to the neighbor who refused to pay him. He later found out they belonged to someone else. Duane was sent to the reform school in Salem for a short time. After he was released, he ran away from home and after his 18th birthday in 1927, he joined the service. Basic training was at North Island, San Diego, Califronia. After training, he was sent to try to help capture Sand Island in nicaragua, whcih we never did. While in the service his mother located him, how he doesn't know because no one in the family knew where he was. After leaving the service he was later called back to duty as a D.J. working for the reserves during WWII, but it didn't last too long because he was too old. Duane was known to have been in every penitentary across the states, mostly for stealing. He played guitar and sang. Had been through many marriages.
