Biography
Thomazine was the daughter of John Copleston of Egford (Eggesford[1]), co Devon, esq, and his wife, Anne, the daughter of Thomas Stewkley of Colridge, Esq.[2]
Thomazine had siblings:
John Copleston, aged 30 years and more on 28 February, 1586, died 11 November, 1606, who married Dorothy, the daughter of Sir George Beeston of Beeston Castle, Cheshire,[3]they had:
Anne, only daughter, aged 18 when her father died in 1606, who was married to Edward Chichester, afterwards Viscount Chichester;[3]
Margaret;[2] and
Margery.[2]
John Copleston, the father of Thomazine alias Thomasia, died on 28 February, 1586, at Eggesford and an Inquisition post mortem was taken in 28 Elizabeth.[3]
Thomazine married Hugh Beeston of Beeston, Esq, the oldest son of Sir George Beeston, of Beeston in co Chester, Knight.[4] So Thomazine and her brother John were both married to children of Sir George and Alice Beeston.[5]
Thomasine and Hugh had children:
George, who was living in 1580 and married to the daughter of Bulmer of the Mynes,[6] died without issue before 1601;[4] and
John, living in 1580, who died without issue before 1601;[4]
There is some confusion about who married the daughter of Bulmer. The Visitation of 1580 says it was George son of Hugh and Thomasine,[6] however, The Visitation of 1613 says it was Sir George, the son of Sir Hugh the younger brother, who married Prudence the daughter of Sir Beuor Bulmer Knight.[5] Regardless, both George's died without surviving children.
Hugh, Thomasine's husband, married his second wife, Margret, the daughter of Thomas Ireland of the Hutt in co Lancaster,[4] the widow of John Aston of Aston, co Chester,[5] on 7 May 1579, at Bunbury, Cheshire. Thomazine was therefore dead before 7 May 1579.
