   Samuel Fox, son of Thomas Fox, was born in 1651 in Concord, Massachusetts. He and his brother John were sons of Thomas Fox, of Concord.[1]
   
   March 30th, 1675-6, Samuel Fox married Mary, supposed to be daughter of Andrew Lester, born in Gloucester, in 1647. They had a son Samuel, born April 24th, 1681.[1][2][3] One site suggests that she might be Mary Moore Fox.[4]
   
   After this he contracted a second, third and fourth marriage, and had sons, Isaac, Samuel and Benjamin, which should probably be assigned to the second wife, Joanna, who died in 1689.[3] [1]
   
   The third wife was Bathsheba, relict of Richard Smith, and daughter of James Rogers.[3] [1] Bathsheba was the mother of Samuel 'the younger' Fox who married Rachel Rogers. [5][6][1]
   
   There is no record made of any marriages or births in the family after 1681.[1]
   
   A singular caprice led Mr. Fox and some others in that day to give the same name to two children by a different mother. When a name, therefore, is repeated in a list of children, it is not always an indication that the first named had died before the birth of the other. Samuel Fox, in his will, makes bequests to his two sons, Samuel the elder and younger. The former had settled in the North Parish, at a place still known as Fox's Mills. He is the ancestor of the Fox families of Montville.[1]
   
   Enslaved people
   Bathshua brought her slave Joan Rogers with her to the Fox household in 1690, and two of Joan's children-- Adam Jackson and Miriam Jackson--lived there until they were sold.
   
   Death
   Samuel died in New London, Connecticut, in 1727 aged seventy-seven [1] and was buried at Ancient Cemetery, New London, New London County, Connecticut. His memorial has some biographical material, not the same as above, a photo of his headstone and links to those of family members.
