ROBERT 'ALLEN', Midwest City passed away May 25, 2003 at the Norman Veterans Center where he had resided since Feb. 2003. Allen was born March 24, 1929 in Oklahoma City. He was preceded in death by his parents Furman L. Fox and Helen Howard Fox. Survivors include his wife Charlotte, brother David N. Fox and wife JoAnne, nieces Jayne Detten and husband Mark, Susan Wilson and husband Brian, 2 great nieces, 2 great nephews, 1 step great niece and numerous relatives in OK, PA, WV and OH. Survivors in Charlotte's family are sisters Freida Porter, Glenda Daman and husband Gordon, brother-in-law, A.A. Williams and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Allen graduated from Midwest City High School in 1947 where he lettered in baseball and football 4 years. While in high school he also played American Legion baseball and upon graduating he continued baseball playing in a Sand Lot (semi pro) league and then was a member of the Florida International League. His baseball career ended when he was drafted into the army during the Korean War. Upon receiving an honorable discharge Allen became an independent insurance agent retiring in 1998 due to failing health. Allen was a member of Wickline United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 170 and the Midwest City Alunmi Association where he had served as historian. His hobbies included managing and coaching YMCA Little League Baseball in the l970s, photography and golf where he had a hole in one at the Midwest City Municipal Golf Course. He was an avid sports fan, particularly OU football. Services will be held 2pm Thurs. at the Wickline United Methodist Church, 417 Mid America Blvd., Midwest City under the direction of Ford Funeral Service with interment in Sunny Lane Cemetery.
