Inquisitions Post Mortem for Margaret, late the wife of Edmund de Stafford, Writ, 18 March, 11 Edward III [1337]. She died on 17 March last [1337]. Ralph her son, aged bet. 30 and 40 years on 17 March last, is her next heir.
Notes
Margaret was born in 1280. Margaret's father was Sir Ralph Basset 1st Baron Basset and her mother was Hawise de Grey. Her paternal grandparents were Ralph Basset and Margaret de Somery; her maternal grandparents were Sir John de Grey and Joan. She had a brother and a sister, named Ralph and Maud. She had a half-brother named Robert. She died at the age of 56 on March 17th, 1337.

Tisho. The manor (extent given) held for her life of the king in chief, as a member of the barony
of Stafford, the whole of which barony is held of the king in chief by service of two knights·Äô
fees and a half. The pleas and perquisites of court are worth yearly 5s. and no more, because the
king has view of frankpledge within the said manor.
Wauwayneswotton. The manor (extent given), including a great wood, held for her life of the king
in chief, as a member of the said barony.
She died on 17 March last. Ralph her son, aged 40 years on 17 March last, is her next heir.
STAFFORD. Inq. made at Stafford, 10 April, 11 Edward III.
Bradeleye and Madeleye. The manors (extents given) held jointly with the said Edmund, of the gift
of Roger de Clongonford, chaplain, who enfeoffed the said Edmund and Margaret thereof together
with other members and manors of the barony of Stafford, by the king·Äôs licence, and by fine levied
in the king·Äôs court, to hold to them and the heirs of the body of the said Edmund, with remainder
to the right heirs of the said Edmund for ever, of the king, as members of the barony of Stafford,
in form aforesaid, the whole of which barony is held by service of two knights·Äô fees and a half.
Ralph de Stafford, knight (chivaler), aged 30 years and more at the feast of St. Denis last, is
son and next heir of the said Edmund, and did homage and fealty to the king for the whole barony
during the lifetime of the said Margaret.

Warwick (descended from the ancient family of Swynfen of Swynfen, co. Stafford.
