From The Scots Peerage
WALTER HALIBURTON of Dirleton. His name appears in several charters in the reign of Robert lll and the regency of Robert, Duke of Albany. He married, probably as his second wife, between 1402 and 1406,1 Isobel, one of the daughters of Robert, Duke of Albany,2 and widow of Alexander Leslie, Earl of Ross, who died 1402. Many persons of the name of Haliburton appear in the records at this period, and some of them may have been the issue of this Sir Walter. He had at least one son, SIR WALTER, who married Marjorie Douglas.
A dispensation was granted to Walter and Isabel on 21 December 1415, long after their marriage ( Vatican Reg., An. 22 Benedict xin.)

The Scots Peerage shows 2 generations of Walters. Burkes Extinct Peerages 1883 shows just one Sir Walter, High Treasurer and 1st Lord, who married Isabel Stewart. The Scots Peerage reports that, whilst it "is generally stated that" the second Walter was created a Peer, "this is very doubtful, and it is more probable that it was his son [Walter l·Äôs grandson] who was the first Peer".

Sir Walter Haliburton 2nd wife was reported to be Isobel Stewart, daughter of Robert, Duke of Albany. She was NOT the mother of Walter Halyburton (RN=4352). He was born at of Dirleton, Berwickshire, Scotland. He married Marjory Douglas, daughter of Sir Archibald Douglas, 3rd Earl of Douglas, Earl of Wigtown, Lord of Galloway & Bothwell and Joanna Moray, in 1403. Sir Walter Haliburton married Isobel Stewart, daughter of Sir Robert Stewart, Duke of Albany, Earl Menteith, Fife, Buchan, Atholl and Margaret Graham, before February 1408.4,2 Sir Walter Haliburton and Isobel Stewart obtained a marriage license on 21 December 1415; Date of dispensation, they being related in the 4th degree of affinity. They had issue.4,2 Sir Walter Haliburton died before 10 May 1447.

Walter Haliburton was the son of Sir John Halyburton and Margaret Cameron.2 He married Lady Isabella Stewart, daughter of Robert Stewart, 1st Duke of Albany and Margaret Graham, Countess of Menteith, between 1402 and 1408.1 He died before 1447.1
He was also known as Walter Halyburton. He lived at Dirleton, East Lothian, Scotland.
