Notes
In 1842, Hamilton, TN, Sarah handled several land purchases, buying land from David Temple,Leroy Standifer,William Towery.
Sally was married ca 1808 to Nimrod Moore of Bledsoe Co. After 5 or 6 years of marriage, he took up drinking, being sullen, and associating in gambling companies. He abused her and her children. He moved them frequently. One time he left them in McMinnville, Warren Co. He went from there to Jasper in Marion Co. She and the children were kicked out of a rented house in McMinnville (the rent expired), and they moved to a cabin on Cumberland Mountain. She got word to her mother and brother who came and got her and the children. Nimrod came to her mother·Äôs and she went with him to try to live in Jasper. He stayed drunk and would not support her and the family, so she went back to her mother·Äôs house, where she now lives and has for the past five years. Nimrod came to her mother·Äôs but left again to Cumberland Mountain. He took some of the children but left them at Cumberland Mountain without anything and they ran away and returned to her. He came again and took five of her children to Jasper, and then left them again and went from there to Hamilton Co. The children returned to her. Nimrod took up with another woman in Hamilton Co. Last April he came to where Sally was living on her brother·Äôs land and took all of her property. Last summer he and that woman he was living with her committed to Hamilton Co. Jail for stealing.
The marriage is hereby dissolved between Sally Moore and her husband, Nimrod Moore.

Saw your posts and am almost certain we have a connection of some kind because of all the coincidences (?). My Moore·Äôs start with Nimrod Moore & Sally Jones (daughter of Frederick Jones from VA). They were of some fame in Chattanooga, TN where
a main road is named in their honor. They, or at least Sally, came there via Bledsoe & Hamilton Counties.

One of their daughters (Sarah Jones Moore-Chitwood), her husband Russell B. Chitwood, & at least 3 of her brothers left TN on Christmas Day 1850, with 35 neighbors and relatives and moved to Arkansas by river route. With them were Russell's brother John, his wife and son; Russell's sister Mary "Polly"; Sarah's brother Frederick Jones Moore. The travelers camped by an Arkansas river and built a lean-to of quilts. Within two years two more of Russell's brother's came to Johnson County, Ark: Dury L Chitwood & Ezakiel Chitwood. Many Citwoods and Moores settled in the towns of Ellsworth & Paris and in Logan County.

My great-grandfather was also named Nimrod Moore (Jr.) and his son, my grandfather was named Franklin Nimrod Moore, 1862-1903. Grandpa Franklin (went by the name of Nimrod) was born and raised in Paris, Logan County, Ark. After his death, his wife Mary Ellender Pope-Moore remarried a man named Elliott and they moved to Broken Bow, Okla. around 1905. My father, one of the younger sons, lived there with them just after the turn of the century. Then in 1907 he married his first wife, Eunice Gertrude Smith. NOTICE THE COMMON NAMES MOVING AROUND IN THE SAME AREA TOGETHER?

Oh, also, I noted that one of Richard Jones Moore·Äôs daughters (Nimrod & Sally·Äôs granddaughter) was named Virginia Vanalie Moore (Vallie?) and while I don·Äôt have her year of birth I would place in sometime at turn of the century (a couple years pre or post). That may be a place to start checking since we know the family was in the area.

"Nimrod Moore divorce Sarah Jones in Hamilton Co., TN in 1833. Sarah and children lived in Hamilton Co., and show on the 1850 census with Sarah as head of Household. Nimrod reported to have died abt 1856. Unknown location.

  7. BOB MOORE (Patwarnes)
*****This is what I have found in two different articles that I have on a
    Nimrod Moore.

    1. "Nimrod Moore divorce Sarah Jones in Hamilton Co., TN in 1833. Sarah
    and
children lived in Hamilton Co., and show on the 1850 census with Sarah as
head of Household. Nimrod reported to have died abt 1856. Unknown
    location.

    2. This query had no name on it, but came from Bryan, TX.

Nimrod, Fredrick Jones, and James Marion migrated to Arkansas from
    Tennessee
before the civil war. All three were brothers who migrated to Johnson
    Con.,
Arkansas from Hamilton Co., Tenn. between 1850 and 1860. Fredrick and
    James
served in the military during the war, with James dying of typhoid in
    1864.
Nimrod died that same year, but it is not known if his death was war or
military related. Fredrick survived the war and adopted James' son, John
Fredrick Moore. Nimrod's sons, James and William Taylor Moore were
    adopted
by his widow's second husband, William Hall.
