Assassinated by Lieutenant Dumont de Blaignac on September 13, 1690 in Montreal.

Enlisted to come to Nouvelle France 04-18-1653. Arrived 11-16-1653 on the ship Sainte-Mauguerite.
Came from France to canada on St. Nicolas-de-Nantes in 1653. He became engaged in April 1864. Possibly met Marie on board during the trip.
Like most settlers in early Canada he had been contracted for 5 years as a labourer and, if necessary, a defender of the fort at Ville Marie. He obtained his concession early and began a life of buying and selling property.
He was murdered with a sword by Lt. Dumont de Blaignac on 09-13-1690, a French marine, who escaped. A civil suit was brought against the de Blaign family but the Hunaut family made no gain from it as they had ceded all their rights to a settlement to Charles Cougne to whom Toussaint owed much money.

Son of Nicolas and Marie Benoist
He was assassinated by Lieutenant Dumont Blaignac
18-4-1653 started the La Flèche Arriving in Montreal on 16-11-1653 _____________________________________________________
The place of origin of the ancestor families and Deschamps Hunault reads in the act of marriage celebrated in Montreal, November 23, 1654: "parochia Sti Petri Bellovacensis diocese," that is to say St. Peter's Parish of the Diocese of Beauvais. The designation is rather vague, but the articles of agreement of the 1653 Rookie of the said happily born "Saint-Pierre to the Champs, near Gournay in Normandy." Borders of that province, the parish of Saint-Pierre-és-field is located actually in the Ile-de-France and not in Picardy, as was recently the claim. It was part of the district of Paris and the election of Beauvais. This is why the town now belongs to the department of Oise, on the border of the Seine-Maritime, and not far from the department of Eure. At about six kilometers south of the Normandy town of Gournay, it has always been strongly marked by the imprint of Normandy.
The parish registers of Saint-Pierre-es-Champs held in the departmental archives of the Oise, Beauvais, back to the late 16th century. We have consulted on microfilm negative baptisms for the period 1617-1637 (Mi 467), which should help raise the act on Toussaint Hunault it there. It would indeed be born between 1625 and 1630, according to statements made in the census of 1666 (38), 1667 (42 years) and 1681 (56 years). He was the son of Nicolas and Marie Benoist Hunault, from his marriage. But here's what we have traced about this couple:
- "The May 18, 1620 was baptized Mary, daughter of Nicolas and Marie Benoist Hunot father and mother, so named by Pierette Benoist, Philippe godfather (Benoist?). "
- "The L6e day of May 1623 was baptized by Nicolas Jehan Hunot filz Hunot and Marie Benoist, his parin Jehan Langlois, Marriner's Beard Benoist. "
- "The September 12, 1632 was baptized (Francis?) Son of Nicolas and Unot Mary Benoist, his godfather (Bartholomew ...?) Hunot Marye's godmother. "
- "On July 25, 1634 son of François Nicolas Unot and Pierrette Duval. "
The latter relates baptism may not have the same parents as the other three. It also does not appear that the baptized to 1632 is named Toussaint. But it is still remarkable that the interval of nine years between 1623 and 1632, for which we found no note on the family Hunault includes precisely the period during which the future must have been born Canadian settler. An act has escaped our attention, but not two or three, because the couple Hunault-Benoit has surely had at least two children during this time. The records do not too much difficulty reading as a whole and the microfilm is quite clear. The chronological order of actions is extremely upset by cons and the pages are often upside down, at least on film. It may well be that the leaves are gone, unless they are below, with acts that we have not consulted. Toussaint's parents were finally able to move temporarily, so that their children born 1625-1630 to be registered in another parish.
A fact is not insignificant: the family actually lived Toussaint Hunault Saint-Pierre-es-Champs, the proof is now made. It is also likely that he was born. There are at least several Hunault in this parish and even more Benoit. We also found the name of Dorillard, which is that of another settler of the 17th century originating in that region, said Dorillard Guy Saint-Jean.

The place of origin of the ancestor of the Hunault and Deschamps families is as follows in the act of his marriage celebrated in Montreal on November 23, 1654: "parochia Sti Petri diocesis Bellovacensis", that is to say, the Saint-Pierre parish of the bishopric of Beauvais. The appointment is rather vague, but the contract of engagement of this rookie of 1653 says it fortunately originating from "Saint-Pierre aux Champs, near Gournay, in Normandy". Bordering the latter province, the parish of Saint-Pierre-és-Champs was located in the Ile-de-France and not in Picardy, as we have recently been able to claim. It was part of the generality of Paris and the election of Beauvais. This is why the town belongs today to the department of Oise, on the border of Seine-Maritime and not far from the department of Eure. Only six kilometers south of the Norman town of Gournay, it has always been strongly marked by the footprint of Normandy.

The parish registers of Saint-Pierre-ès-Champs preserved in the Departmental Archives of the Oise, in Beauvais, date back to the end of the 16th century. We were able to consult on negative microfilm the baptisms of the period 1617-1637 (Mi 467), which should have made it possible to note the act relative to Toussaint Hunault if it is there. It was born between 1625 and 1630, according to statements made in the censuses of 1666 (38 years), 1667 (42 years) and 1681 (56 years). He was the son of Nicolas Hunault and Marie Benoist, according to his marriage certificate. However, here is what we traced about this couple:

- "On May 18, 1620 was named Marie daughter of Nicolas Hunot and Marie Benoist father and mother, so named by pierette Benoist, the godfather Philippe (Benoist?). "

- "The first day of May 1623 was named Jehan Hunot by Nicolas Hunot and Marie Benoist, his parin Jehan Langlois, his beard Barbe Benoist. "

- «The twelfth of September 1632 was baptized (François?) Son of Nicolas Unot and Marye Benoist, his godfather (Barthélémy ...?) His mare Marye Hunot. "

- "July 25, 1634 François son of Nicolas Unot and Pierrette Duval. "

This last baptism may not be related to the same parents as the other three. It does not seem otherwise that the baptized of 1632 can be named Toussaint. But it is nevertheless remarkable that the interval of nine years, between 1623 and 1632, for which we did not note any act relating to the Hunault family, includes precisely the period during which the future Canadian settler was born. One act could have escaped our attention, but not two or three, because the Hunault-Benoit couple surely had at least two children during this period of time. Nor do the registers present too much reading difficulties overall and the microfilm is quite clear. The chronological order of the acts appears on the other hand extremely upset and the pages are frequently upside down, at least on the film. It may very well be that leaves have disappeared, unless they are further away, with acts that we have not consulted. Toussaint's parents were finally able to move temporarily, so that their children born around 1625-1630 would be registered in another parish.

A fact remains that is not negligible: the family of Toussaint Hunault actually lived in Saint-Pierre-ès-Champs, the proof is now made. It is also likely that he was born there. There are in any case several Hunault in this parish and even more Benoit. We also noted the name of Dorillard, which is that of another 17th century colonist from this region, Guy Dorillard dit Saint-Jean.
