He was born about 1471. They had thirteen sons, Randall, Knt., Edmund, John Peter Phlip, Edward, Robert, Thomas, George, and Henry, Nicholas, William, William (again), and two daughters, Margaret and Katherine (wife of William Newton). He was knighted in France in 1513. SIR JOHN MAINWARING left a will dated 4 March 1515/6, proved 18 Nov. 1516 (P.C.C. 1 Maynwaryng). He was buried at Over Peover, Cheshire. His widow, Katherine, was mentioned in the 1527 will of John Stanley, Knt. She died in 1529.
