WILLIAM de Douglas (-1213 or after).¬â€  "·Ä¶Will de Dusglas·Ä¶" witnessed the undated charter, dated to [1174/99], under which Jocelyn Bishop of Glasgow confirmed the donation of "capellam castelli de Pebles" to Kelso abbey[233].¬â€  "·Ä¶Domino Willielmo de Doneglass·Ä¶" witnessed the undated charter under which "Maldovenus comes de Levenax" granted land "in Levenax·Ä¶Buthernockis et·Ä¶Kyncaith" to "Wilielmo filio Arthuri filii Galbrait"[234].¬â€ 
m ---, sister of Freskin, daughter of ---.¬â€  The name of William·Äôs wife is not known.¬â€  Her family origin is indicated by the undated charter under which her son Brice Bishop of Moray confirmed "ecclesiam de Deveth" to the church of Moray at the request of "Freskyni de Kerdal avunculi nostri"[235].¬â€  It is also corroborated by the numerous charters which are witnessed both by Freskin·Äôs descendants and by the sons of William Douglas (see below).¬â€ 
William & his wife had [six] children:¬â€ 
1.¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€  ARCHIBALD de Douglas (-after 1240).¬â€  "Comes Malcolmus de Fyffe" confirmed "terram·Ä¶de Levingstoun·Ä¶et·Ä¶de Hirmanstoun", which "idem Willelmus de me tenuit", to "Archebaldo de Douglas filio Willelmi de Douglas" by undated charter[236].¬â€  "Domino Bricio Moraviensi episcopo·Ä¶Arkembaldo de Duseglas, Freskyno decano Moraviensis ecclesie, Andrea de Moravia, Alexandro, Henrico, Hugone·Ä¶" witnessed the undated charter under which "Willelmus filius Willelmi Freskyny" confirmed the donation of "ecclesiam de Artendol" to the church of Moray[237].¬â€  "Amelec frater Maldoveni comitis de Levenax" donated "ecclesiam de Rosneth" to Paisley monastery by undated charter, witnessed by "·Ä¶Archebaldo de Dusglas·Ä¶"[238].¬â€  "·Ä¶Erkenbaldo de Duglas fratre quondam Bricii episcopi·Ä¶" witnessed the charter dated 31 Oct 1226 which confirmed an agreement between the bishop of Moray and "Gylbertum Hostiarium" about "terra de Strathboc et·Ä¶Buleske"[239].¬â€  m ---.¬â€  The name of Archibald·Äôs wife is not known.¬â€  Archibald & his wife had [two] children:
a)¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€  [WILLIAM Douglas of Douglas (-before 20 Oct 1274).¬â€  There is no evidence that William was the son of Archibald other than the fact that he inherited Archibald·Äôs lands[240].¬â€  "·Ä¶Will et Andreas de Duglas·Ä¶" witnessed the undated charter under which "Joh Gallard" donated "in terra de Siwinis Keeth" to Dunfermline monastery by undated charter[241].]¬â€  m CONSTANCE, daughter of --- (-after 20 Oct 1274).¬â€  "Constancia widow of William de Duglasse" gave two marks for a writ ad terminum by charter dated 20 Oct 1274[242].¬â€  William & his wife had three children:
i)¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€  HUGH Douglas of Douglas (-before 1289).¬â€  His contract of marriage is dated 6 Apr 1259[243].¬â€  m (contract 6 Apr 1259) MARJORY Abernethy, daughter of HUGH de Abernethy & his wife ---.¬â€ 
ii)¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€  WILLIAM Douglas of Douglas "le Hardi" (-London in prison 1298).¬â€

iii)¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€  WILLELMA Douglas (-late Dec 1302).¬â€  Letters of inquisition, after the death of "Lady Willelma, daughter of the late Sir William Douglas", are dated 30 Dec 1303 and record that "Sir John Comyn grandfather of the present Sir John Comyn" gave land at "Dalserfe to Sir William de Galbrathe in frank marriage with his daughter, and that the said Sir William gave it ot his son in frank marriage" with the deceased, as well as naming the couple·Äôs four daughters and recording her death "within the Feast of the Lord·Äôs nativity 1302"[244].¬â€  m WILLIAM Galbraithe, son of WILLIAM Galbraithe & his wife --- Comyn.¬â€ 
b)¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€  [ANDREW Douglas of Douglas .¬â€  "·Ä¶Will et Andreas de Duglas·Ä¶" witnessed the undated charter under which "Joh Gallard" donated "in terra de Siwinis Keeth" to Dunfermline monastery by undated charter[245].¬â€  There appears to be no other evidence than this charter that Andrew was the brother of William Douglas[246].¬â€  1248.]¬â€

Scott" confirmed revenue from "molendino meo de Sprouston" to Kelso abbey[248].¬â€ 
3.¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€ ¬â€  HUGH Douglas (-[1238]).¬â€  "Hugo Freskyn" donated "terram meam de Scelbol in Sutherland" to the church of Moray by charter dated to [1203/14], witnessed by "Willelmo fratre meo, Andrea fratre meo·Ä¶Hugone Duglas, Freskyno Duglas·Ä¶"[249].¬â€  "Willelmus dominus de Suthyrlandia filius et heres quondam Hugonis Freskyn" confirmed the donation of "terram meam de Scelbol in Suthyrlandia et·Ä¶Fernebuchlyn et·Ä¶Innerchen" to the church of Mo ray made by "Hugo Freskyn quondam pater meus" by undated charter, witnessed by "Hugone Duglas, Freskyno de Duglas·Ä¶"[250].¬â€  "Domino Bricio Moraviensi episcopo·Ä¶Arkembaldo de Duseglas, Freskyno decano Moraviensis ecclesie, Andrea de Moravia, Alexandro, Henrico, Hugone·Ä¶" witnessed the undated charter under which "Willelmus filius Willelmi Freskyny" confirmed the donation of "ecclesiam de Artendol" to the church of Moray[251].¬â€  "·Ä¶Hugone de Duglas Alexandro et Henrico fratribus nostris·Ä¶" witnessed the undated charter under which Brice Bishop of Moray confirmed "ecclesiam de Deveth" to the church of Moray at the request of "Freskyni de Kerdal avunculi nostri"[252].¬â€
