Sir John Beauchamp, 1st Lord Beauchamp (of Somerset) was born on 25 July 1274.1 He was the son of John Beauchamp and Cicely de Vivonne.1 He married Joan Chenduit before 1301.1 He died between October 1336 and December 1336.1
Sir John Beauchamp, 1st Lord Beauchamp (of Somerset) fought in the Scottish wars.1 On 17 September 1295 he had seizin of his father's lands.1 He was created 1st Lord Beauchamp, of Somerset [England by writ] on 29 December 1299.1 He was invested as a Knight on 22 May 1306.1 In 1321 he suceeded to the extensive estates of his mother, including Sturminster Marshal, Dorset and Bullingham, Cambridgeshire.1 He held the office of Governor of Sturminster Castle in 1325.1
Note that the House of Lords, Committee for Privileges found in 1924 that there was no proof that neither John Beauchamp nor his son had actually sat in Parliament following their writ of summons.

Ref 171 (Marbury Ancestry) names John Blount's 2nd wife, and mother of Walter Blount, as Eleanor, daughter of John Beauchamp of Hache, Somerset - Beauchamp arms, Vair, quartered on subsequents Blount coats. The book points out though that her identity has not been positively determined - exactly WHICH John Beauchamp was her father.
