BOMBARDIER DIT LABOMBARDE

HI EVERYBODY
I HAVE FOUND SOMETHING NEW AND VERY INTERESTING THAT MAY EXPLAIN
WHY SOME OF US ARE HAVING SO MUCH TROUBLE IN STRAIGHTENING OUT
OUR BOMBARDIER ROOTS. IN A BOOK "CADILLAC'S VILLAGE" PAGE 79, LISTS
THE FOLLOWING PASSAGE:
ANDREW BOMBARDIER WAS BORN IN THE CITY OF LILLE, BELGIUM. HE LEFT
DETROIT AFTER 1709, AND REMAINED IN LOWER CANADA. HIS GRANDSON,
PHILIP BOMBARDIER DIT LABOMBARDE, MOVED WITH HIS FAMILY TO
SANDWICH, ONTARIO ABOUT 1788, WHERE HIS DESENDANTS CAN BE FOUND
AT THE PRESENT DAY.
THIS WAS WRITTEN NOV. 9, 1896 BY FATHER DENISSEN.
IF THIS BE TRUE, (AND WHY NOT), THEN JEAN BOMBARDIER HAD ANDRE
BOMBARDIER (MY RELATIVE), AND ANOTHER SON WHO BRAVED THE NEW
WORLD NAMED ANDREW BOMBARDIER. THIS WHOLE OTHER LINE CAME TO BE
KNOWN AS BOMBARDIER AND ALSO LABOMBARDE. ALSO, SINCE WE CAN'T
TRACE BACK FURTHER THAN JEAN BOMBARDIER IN FRANCE, IS IT POSSIBLE
THAT WE SHOULD BE LOOKING IN "LILLE, BELGIUM"?
FOOD FOR THOUGHT. MY BEST TO ALL OF YOU COUSINS.
RICK
