Research Notes
Re: Francis Bryan married Sarah Brinker 1667.
By John K. Bryan August 05, 2007 at 06:20:12. "Morgan Bryan (1671-1763) - A Danish born Irish Immigrant and some of his Antecedents and Descendants." Mil-Mac Publishers, 303 Zandale Drive, Lexington, Ky. 40503.Printed in 2007, this is the first of two volumes.Volume II will deal with the nine children of Morgan and Martha Strode Bryan and some of their descendents. It should be available in 2008.

Francis Bryan III and Sarah Brinker are believed to have been the parents of Morgan Bryan. The parents of Francis III are believed to have been William Smith Bryan and Catherine Morgan. The paternal grandparents of Francis III are believed to have been Francis Bryan II and Ann Smith. The paternal great-grandparents of Francis III are believed to have been Sir Francis Bryan and second wife, Lady Joan (Fitzgerald) Butler.

Note the phrase "believed to have been." To be more accurate, I might have said "believed by some to have been," because there is no direct evidence of these relationships and only fragmentary secondary evidence and indirect evidence of their actual existence. In other words, virually all "family history" prior to the recorded events and people in the lives of Morgan and Martha Strode Bryan is "traditional."

Notes
It is believed that in 1549 Sir Francis Bryan had a son by his second wife. It is also believed that the son, Francis, died in childhood.[4] Therefore, son Francis died before 1570 and was not the person who married Anne Smith. She has been detached as his wife (no marriage information was included) and his death date/location changed from "1 Jun 1640, County Clare, Ireland" to "before 1570" (probably Ireland).[5] Posted to his father's profile page was the following information, apparently from The Spear and the Spindle[6] Marriage 1 ANN SMITH b: 1580 in County Clarire, Ireland [4] Married: 1580 in County Clarire, Ireland [4] Children" WILLIAM SMITH "IMMIGRANT" BRYAN b: 1590 in County Claire, Ireland [4] Secondary Sources
