Dulce Berenguer, Princess of Aragon, Queen Consort of Portugal (1152·Äì1198) was first daughter of Ramon Berenguer IV, Count of Barcelona and Petronila of Aragon. She was also the wife of Sancho I of Portugal. [edit]Queen of Portugal
In 1174 she was married to then Prince Sancho as part of an arrangement to secure an alliance between Aragon and Portugal by her brother Alfonso II of Aragon. With her husband's ascent to the throne in 1185, she became Queen Consort.
Eleven children were born from her marriage to King Sancho, nine of whom reached adulthood:
·Ä¢Theresa¬â (1175/1176 ·Äì 18 June 1250),[2][6]¬â she became the wife of King¬â Alfonso IX of Leââ¥n¬â and was beatified in 1705;
·Ä¢Sancha¬â (1180 ·Äì 13 March 1229),[10]¬â founded the Monastery of Celas near Coimbra where she lived until her death. Her sister Theresa arranged for her burial at the Monastery of Lorvâ£o. She was beatified by¬â Pope Clement XI¬â in 1705, the same year as Theresa;[11]
ဢConstanza (May 1182 ဓ 3 August 1202).She must have died before 1186 since her name is not registered in any of the documents of the chancellery of Sancho I which begins in that year";[6]‰ [d]
ဢAfonso‰ (23 April 1186[12]‰ ဓ 25 March 1223), succeeded his father as the third king of Portugal;

ဢMafalda‰ (1195/1196[12]‰ ဓ 1 May 1256), the wife of‰ Henry I of Castile, was beatified in 1793;
·Ä¢Branca¬â (1198 ·Äì 17 November 1240), probably the twin sister of Berengaria,[12]¬â was raised in the court with her father and his mistress "a Ribeirinha" and, when she was eight or ten years old, was sent to live with her sisters at the Monastery of Lorvâ£o. She was a nun at a convent in¬â Guadalajara¬â and was buried at the same monastery as her mother;[13]
