Early life[edit]Warinus was born at Autun, Saône-et-Loire, Burgundy.[1][4] He is the son of Bodilon, Count of Poitiers and Sigrada of Alsace and Sainte-Marie de Soissons. Saint Leodegarius was his brother.[1][4] He was the founder of the famous noble family of the Guideschi.
As a nobleman he spent his childhood at the court of Clotaire II.[1]
He married Gunza von Treves, a Frankish noblewoman in France.[1][4] His wife came from an influential Frankish family. She was the sister of Saint Basinus of Treves. They had three children:
· Doda of Poitiers (circa b. 659 - circa d. 678)
· Leudwinus, Count of Poitier (b. 660 - d. 722)
· Grimgert, Count of Paris (circa b.667)
