Jacob I. Bevier signed the Articles of Association adopted 29 April 1775. He enlisted in 177 5 in the Third Ulster Regiment of the New York State Militia and served as a private. He rece ived Land Bounty Rights & a pension from a grateful government in April 1833. He and his fami ly resided in New Paltz. He and his wife, Maria York, joined the church upon confession of fa ith on September 2, 1784. In 1788, he was made deacon in place of Petrus Bevier. He and his w ife were buried in a private burying ground at Springtown, Ulster County.
