Noah Wright Childs, eldest child of Samuel and Eunice Wright Childs, born in Deerfield, Mass. August 26, 1769, married December 19, 1791, Mary Graves of Sunderland, Mass. She was born March 30, 1773; died October 10, 1858 He died October 4, 1825. A record received from the descendants of Noah Childs write the middle name Webster, while the Deerfield records give it a Wright; and this descendant of Noah's mother was a relative of Noah Webster the lexicographer, and Mary Graves was of Huguenot orgin. At what date Mr. Childs removed from Derfield Mass. , we are not informed. Eight of his eleven children are recorded in Deerfield Mass. town record as born in that town the youngest of these in 1804. His removal was after this date. He went from Deerfield to the town of Sullivan, Madison County, New York, and purchased a large tract of land, connected with which were grist, saw and plaster mills. In the war with England, in 1812, he was called into service in the United States Army and held the office of sergeant in the division stationed at Buffalo, New York.
