Rueben was the youngest son of James McDunnah and Margaret Hotham. Rueben left home beforer he was 20 and went to Talmadge in Washington Co. Maine. (can't find it on the map.) He worked for Stephan Neal and married his daughter in1879. She was Olive Rudella "Della" neal, age 17. After he married he dropped Rueben and listed his age two years younger than he was. Henry worked in Stephen Neal's shingle mill, which was on teh river near his home.
Henry was a shingle binder and a farmer. They lived in Alexander for a number of years, then moved to Carmel. Della died in 1934 at Bangor, Maine, in the hospital after an operation for cancer of the uterus. Henry mortgaged the farm for $1,000 (probably to pay for the operation). The children didn't know about this until the foreclosure date expired and it was too late to raise the money. Irving Call got Hen's farm.
Henry lived with his son Stephen until Stephen and family went to Rhoade Island during WWII where he worked as a tool and die maker. Until Stephen came back, Henry lived with Frank and Dora McDunnah. Henry was living at Stephen's when he died March 23, 1946.
Henry left 34 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. Henry was called "Pa" by their children and grandchildren.
