I am suspicious because in his 1702 will Isaac names only one grandchild: Allerton Newton. This was the son of his daughter Sarah Elizabeth Allerton who married (as his 2nd wife) 1) John Newton Jr and (also as his 2nd wife) 2) Hancock Lee. Isaac does name his children in his will, including this child, Sarah Lee. The fact that he does not name any other of the Newton grandchildren makes me think that Mary, the 1st wife of John Newton Jr, was NOT an Allerton. For why would Isaac name Sarah's Newton child but not the orphans of his daughter Mary--if she actually was his daughter??? Therefore, i would like to take the Allerton surname off her and take her out of the family of Isaac Allerton & his 2nd wife, Elizabeth Willoughby. But will wait awhile to see: can anybody provide any evidence (direct OR circumstantial) that she actually was an Allerton?
