Edward Goddard II, born March 21, 1675, Watertown MA, buried Church Hill Cemetery. Schoolmaster. Married Susannah Stone, daughter of Deacon Samuel Stone and Sarah Stearns, June 1, 1697 in Watertown. She was born March 24, 1675 in Watertown, died February 4, 1754 in Framingham and was buried February 4, 1754 in Church Hill Cemetery, Framingham MA.
Edward resided in Watertown, Mass. as a schoolmaster from April 12, 1697 until about 1707. He then moved to Boston to be a teacher, then moved to Framingham,March 25, 1714 and taught grammar school for several years. He received numerous civil, military and ecclesiastical appointments. Edward was admitted a freeman on Feb. 6, 1697-8 in Watertown, Mass. His wife Susanna , on April 27, 1701, was admitted full Communion to the church.

Edward by trade was a weaver of cloth. Son Benjamin was one of the first settlers of Shrewsbury, Mass.
Edward was admitted to the church by letter on april 9, 1718. He was a prominent man in Framingham and filled almost every place of honor and profit. He was Deputy of the General Court for 8 years, appointed Deacon April 14, 1725, but declined ; messenger several times for the church to ecclesiastical councils, Town Clerk for 18-20 years [ he had beautiful penmanship ] ; Trustee of the Hassanamesit Indians in 1739, Selectman for 10 years, Town Treasurer 2 years, Representative for 8 years, Member of the Executive Council of the Province, chosen to His Majesty's Council for 3 years, held commission as Justice of the Peace, Lieutenant- then Captain of a company of horse troop ; and Local Majestrate.
He was skilled in drawing conveyances and other legal papers , so the town hired him often for this. He was a zealous and decided man with integrety and talent , chiefly in theological research. He was a Calvinist and strong defender of religious freedom. Edward , along with others, left without dismissal from Mr. Swift's church and were received into the Hopkinton Church January 13, 1732/3. He was insrumental in planning the Second Congretational Church in 1746 at Framingham, which after his death, declined and failed. Many of his papers were preserved, he had written many manuscripts,sermons, journals, and had published some controversal papers.
he was "a person of very good natural powers, inquisitive and curious genius, industrious spirit, and considerable improvements in both divine and political knowledge, esteemed for sobriety, integrity, judiciousness and piety from his youth......being of so good a character and a very accurate writer and draughter in almost all sorts of instruments, he was in his younger time encouraged to keep a school for writing and arithmetic in Boston, where he behaved himself to great acceptance, contracted and intimate friendship with the Rev. Mr. Bridge... and other serious and solid men...... in whose society he continued and grew in esteem and affection, and with mutual pleasure, till purchasing a farm in Framingham, he thought it best, for the sake of his children, to live upon and improve it. He was many yeas in commission for the peace, nine years chosen and served as Representative for the town in the General Court, and also chose and served three years more in his Majesty's Council for the Provence.... He was one of the greatest and most steady patriots, both of civil and religious liberties, in their largest extent, that ever appeard in the General Assembly in his day."
