LifeSketch: The book "Ancestry of Colonel John Harrington Stevens and his wife Frances Helen Miller," by Mary Lovering Holman (Concord, N.H., 1948-1952), vol. 1, p. 29: ably in Kent, about 1500, died there in 1558. His wife's name has not been found but she had deceased before 18 Sept. 1558.oir" is of a fragmentary character. The research done for the author was very scanty and the conclusions seem to have been assumed rather than proven. As it is impossible to check this line at present (1940) it is included here as given. Henry-Fitzgilbert Waters discovered the two wills which seem to be the best proof of the line.dhurst, and his grandson Richard was of Horsmonden. These three parishes were close together in Kent, not far from the Sussex line. Richard, of Brenchley, in his will, dated 18 Sept., proved 24 Oct., 1558, names no wife and bequeaths to his sons, Robert, Alexander, George, Richard, Andrew, Simon, Thomas, William, and daughters, Alice and Agnes.
