Donna, ( Reply on 2-25-00)
Gregg's history was compiled in 1880, which is too early to help with land
transactions from 1919--and his book is a biographical/historical record
rather than a listing of land transactions.
However, there are several names in the index to his book that match the
surnames you've listed above. There are several Crabills (25 different
names in all, including a Angeline Steinburger Crabill (Mrs. Benjamin
Crabill). The only Fry listings are Jacob and John. There are 2 Fryes,
Mary and General Frye.
There is no G. F. Wilson, but there are a couple of G. Wilsons.
I'll be happy to look further at any of these listings if they are hits
for your searches.
Kind regards,
Jim

See letter in notes of John, Benjamin's father for news of Benjamin as young man.
Benjamin S. and Angeline lived in Champaign co, Westville, OH and had 6 of their children there. Lucinda our ancestor was born in Fountain Green twp, Hancock co, La Harpe, IL. The family moved to Fountain Green in 1849. Lived on 420 acre farm and in 1858 built a beautiful brick home from their hands and bricks made from the land also. Located 1/4 mile from the main Fountain Green Rd. It appears as a Southern Manor showing Benjamins Virginia roots. Phyllis Dunlavy author of most of these notes went to La Harpe in 1978 and saw the home. The original plan had 9 bedrooms and was allmost 2 houses. She saw the brick that her ancestor Phillander carved the date of 1858
\Elder Isaac Vanmeter was the pastor, and Bethany Church was member of the Spoon River Association rather than Salem. From the
available minutes of Spoon River Association I have gleaned a few names of members of Bethany Church. I need to check my database again, but i am sure even before I check, that Benjamin Crabill was a member of Bethany Church. I will printout the few names of Bethany that I have,and send them to you, also the pages from my book on Hancock County. Maybe the Crabill connection had something to do with the Primitive Baptist connection somehow, too. (Note added: Benjamin and Angeline Crabill were members at this church, she died in 1880.) The church dissolved in 1883 {from Email R. Webb 7-23-00 More Primitive Baptist's forefathers, DA}
