GRASSFLAT -- George A. Lucas, 65, died in his home at Grassflat yesterday morning, Feb. 7. Born at Grassflat March 16, 1902, he was a son of Daniel And Anna (Zurko) Lucas. A coal miner by occupation, he had been retired for 10 years. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul's Church and the First Slovak Catholic Union, both of Grassflat. Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Myers and 12 Children: John, Seven Hills, Ohio; Miss Mary Frances Lucas, Warren; George, Michale, Joseph, Mrs. Ann Ryba and Thomas, all of Parma, Ohio; Mrs. Elizabeth Krupar, Cleveland, Ohio; Stephen, Dallas, Pa.; Edward, Oberlin, Ohio; Sister M. Siena, Bloomsburg; and Vincent, at home. Also surviving are: 28 grand-children; two brothers, John of Philipsburg and Michael of Erie; and one sister, Mrs. Veronica Humenay of Grassflat. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10am in the SS Peter and Paul's Church in charge of the Rev. Michael Tutokie. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call in the Johnson Funeral Home, Grassflat, from 7pm today until time of service Saturday. Jednota Lodge will recite the Rosary int he funeral home tomorrow at 7pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church building fund.
GRASSFLAT — At a nuptial ceremony performed in the Sts Peter and Paul Catholic Church Saturday morning, June 25, Miss Mary C. Krupar, daughter of John Krupar of Lanse. became the bride of John A. Lucas of Cleveland, Ohio, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Lucas of Grassflat. Rev. Michael E. Tutokie officiated at the ceremony. The church was attractively decorated for the ceremony with white carnations, red roses, and hydrangea. Appropriate wedding music was furnished by the oreanist, Mrs. Thomas Scalzo, who with her husband also presented several vocal selections. Given in marriage by her father the bride wore a gown of white slipper satin made with a full length train. Her veil lei from a heavily beaded pear crown and she carried a bouquet of lilies centered with an orchid. Her . only jewelry was a gold cross given to her by the bridegroom. The bride was attended by her sister, Mrs. Anna Petro of Cleveland, Ohio, as matron of honor. Mrs. Petro wore an orchid gown and carried a bouquet of yellow roses. Serving as bridesmaids were Dorothy 'Krupar, sister of the bride, who wore an aqua gown; and Agnes Krupar, another sister, who was gowned 'in yellow and Betty Lucas, sister of the bridegroom, attired in pink. Al. the bridesmaids wore tiaras to match their gowns and earned bouquets of pink carnations. George Lucas of Cleveland Ohio, brother of the bridegroom served as best man. The ushers were Michael Lucas, Andrew Pewanick of Cleveland, Ohio and John Krupar, brother of th bride. Following the ceremony a re ception was given in the Church Hall at Grassflat for a larg number of friends and relative of the couple. After the reception the newly weds left on a wedding trip t Niagara Falls, -N. Y-, and Onta rio, Canada. The bride chose fo her going-away, outfit a flon print dress with a black back Hi-ound, white accessories and a orchid corsage. Both Mr. and Mrs. Lucas attttended the Cooper Township High School, the bridegroom, a veteran of World War II, is employed by the Midland Steel products Company of Cleveland, Ohio. He and his wife will reside in that city.
