In "De Winterswijkse Politei, Geschiedenis van het Winterswijkse Politiek orps 1811-1993" door Ru Wewer e.a. wordt beschreven hoe Bram Weenink de p olitie behulpzaam was.
"Op het Weuden werd ingebroken naast het huis van Bram Weenink. De dief h ad al een hele verzameling buit op de grond liggen. Zilvergoed e.d. Nacht waker Polman, op zijn nachtelijke ronde, kwam er langs, zag dat iemand be zig was een huis leeg te halen en greep de dief. Er ontstond een worsteli ng en Polman kon de dief nauwelijks in bedwang houden. De jonge Bram Ween ink, een jongen van een jaar of twaalf, hoorde het lawaai, keek uit het r aam en kwam de nachtwaker te hulp. Gekleeed in zijn nachthemd sprong hij boven op de dief en beiden wisten ze hem te overmeesteren. De dief werd n aar het politiebureau gebracht, Bram Weenink nog steeds in zijn nachthem d. De andere morgen werd Bram op school door meester Postel uitbundig gep rezen om zijn dappere gedrag. Nachtwaker Polman werd bevorderd tot veldwa chter."
