Geert Nienhuis (Assen): Dit molencomplex werd in 1824 op een openbare veiling aangekocht door Geert Jans Nienhuis (1796-1869) en is sindsdien tot 1970 familiebezit gebleven. In al die jaren werden talloze Nienhuis-kinderen in dit molenaarshuis/annex boerderij geboren; waaronder vele zonen die nadien ook molenaar/eigenaar zijn geworden: Jan Nienhuis (1824-1902) - oudste zoon van Geert Jans - op 1 mei 1867 te Noorderhoogebrug = de huidige korenmolen "Wilhelmina" Jakob Nienhuis (1833-1873), zoon uit Geert Jans' 2e huwelijk: op 5 juli 1859 kocht op een publieke veiling de molen van Leermens. Die molen stond destijds aan de huidige Schatsborgerweg te 't Zandt. In het voorjaar van 1957 werd deze molen afgebroken; alleen de sarrieshut werd behouden. Onne Nienhuis (1848-1913), de op één na jongste zoon van Geert Jans, kocht op 9 januari 1879 de molen "De Hoop" te Hornhuizen. Ook die molen werd afgebroken; in juni 1934. Geert Nienhuis, oudste zoon van hiervoor genoemde Onne, (1875-1943), werd molenaar te Ulrum. Op 4 november 1911 kocht hij een naamloze molen in Assen; gelegen aan de toenmalige Alteveerstraat. Als gevolg van stadsherziening werd die molen in 1968 afgebroken. Geert Nienhuis (1883-1952) kocht op 1 mei 1913 een molente Kantens; sinds 1948 bekend onder de naam "Groote Geert". Fokko Nienhuis (1887-1969) kocht op 12 februari 1926 de molen "De Leeuw" te Zeerijp. Sindsdien is die molen jarenlang familiebezit gebleven. Op 1 mei 1965 werd de molen officieel overgedragen aan de toenmalige gemeente t 'Zandt.
