Gewapende Burgermacht 1797 Peize: Jan Engberts, stelmaker, 51 jaar met 5 kinderen en Willem Engberts, stelmaker, ongehuwd, 46 jaar. Daarvoor wordt Jan Engberts al vanaf 1742 vermeld in het Haardstedenregister als stelmaker, aanvankelijk betreft ditvermoedelijk zijn vader.
Op 9-1-1796 worden mombers aangesteld over de kinderen Annigje 18, Jan 16 en Albert 11 jaar, omdat Jan Engberts, weduwnaar van Anna Alberts gaat hertrouwen met Zientje Jans. Hoofdmomber is Hindrik Alberts, medemombers zijn Roelf Eitens, Hindrik Arents Costers en Willem Engberts. Alle vastigheden zijn reeds verkocht.
Het blijkt hier te gaan om een gedwongen verkoop op last van de crediteuren in 1796, waarbij verschillende landerijen worden verkocht. Broer Willem Engberts is hierbij blijkbaar niet betrokken en is later eigenaar van het huis. Jan Engberts wordt in 1797 nog als eerste vermeld bij het ouderlijke huis.
