Zij zijn omstreeks 1916 verhuisd uit Sappemeer naar Heveadorp om daar te werken in de Hevea fabriek. In het eerste jaar van de fabriek in Heveadorp, in 1916, was er werk voor 258 inwoners, waaronder 53 kinderen. Veel inwoners uit Heveadorp kwamen uit Groningen. De eerste Heveanen verhuisden met de fabriek mee vanuit Hoogezand. Later volgden veel Groningse en Drentse gezinnen hun voorbeeld, op zoek naar een beter bestaan buiten de provincie.
