Er is geen duidelijkheid over de moeders van de kinderen van Oene Geerts. Hij is mogelijk twee of drie keer getrouwd, met Grietje Hendriks (1771) en Hinke Jans (1792), maar mogelijk ook met ene Antje Gosses, die in de overlijdensakte van Hendrik als moeder wordt genoemd. Dan zou zijn vermeende geboortejaar (1775) echter weer niet kloppen.
