Notes about Foecke Floris
Bron: Encyclopedie van Friesland 1958 Foecke Floris, smid (ca. 1650 - ca. 1700) Mennistenprediker te Surhuisterveen, door F. Elgersma van Grouw beschuldigd van socianisme (1683). Na een polemik, waarbij F.F. publiceerde De Beschermingh der Waerheyt Godts (1687), ordonneerden de Staten verbranding van dit boek en verboden F.F. het p reken (18-11-1687). Kort daarna acht weken gevangen te Leeuwarden (en naar men zegt bezocht door 2000 mensen); vervolgens wegen ketterij uit Friesland verbannen. Na vestiging te Zaandam ook daar moeilijkheden met de Noordhollandse synode. Willem III behoedt F.F. voor gevangenschap (1688), maar het preken blijft hem verboden tot 1693.
