Hij is in 1745 terechtgesteld in Leeuwarden. Taeke zat gevangen van 1736 tot 1743/44. "Taeke Brands, schipper en spinbaas, geboren te Surhuisterveen in het jaar 1705, wonende aldaar en te Gorredijk, terechtgesteld te Leeuwarden in december 1745. Wegens herhaaldelijke inbraken en geweldpleging wordt hij in 1745 veroordeeld tot de galg. In 1738 was hij nog betrokken bij een samenzwering tot een (overigens mislukte) ontsnappingspoging uit het Blokhuis te Leeuwarden. Hij is getrouwd te Surhuisterveen op 21 november 1723, op 18-jarige leeftijd met Fetje Sierds (ongeveer 18 jaar oud), geboren rond 1705."
