Ondanks dringende verzoeken van de Binnenlandse Strijdkrachten zich niet naar buiten te begeven kon zij haar nieuwsgierigheid niet bedwingen en werd zij in de deuropening staande geraakt door een projectiel. Het is nooit duidelijk geworden of de kogel afkomstig is geweest van vriend of vijand. Begraven op de hervormde begraafplaats te Drogeham, rij 14, nr. 12. Haar naam staat vermeld op een gedenkteken voor de ingang van de begraafplaats aan de Wide Pet in Harkema.
