Op 17 september 1996 vond in IJmuiden de doop en in dienst stelling plaats van de reddingsboot ìRien Verloopî. De reddingsboot kon worden gebouwd uit een nalatenschap van de heer Marinus J. (Rien) Verloop (ongehuwd), die in augustus 1994 overleed en de Redding Maatschappij als enige erfgenaam had benoemd.
Zijn nicht, mevrouw M.A. van Oijen-van der Weelen, die de nalatenschap afwikkelde, doopte de boot, die naar haar oom Rien Verloop is genoemd (oud-oom Marinus Jacobus). In eerste instantie diende de boot in de reservevloot, maar in 2006 werd†de ìRien Verloopî†overgeplaatst naar station Enkhuizen. Inmiddels buiten dienst en geplaatst in het Nationaal Reddingsmuseum in Den Helder.
