Verloop ging op 23-jarige leeftijd in 1907 door Ellis Island, New York (komend van ì..Abrecht..î, foutief opgeschreven ipv. Utrecht) voor een studie/werkbezoek naar de VS. Hij verkocht de laatste van zijn olieslagerij bedrijven in 1956 aan Brinkers Margarinefabrieken te Zoetermeer. Die stopte de produktie in 1980, na 100 jaar in bedrijf te zijn geweest als de grootste werkgever in Oudewater.
