Op 20-9-1586 is er te Streefkerk een Adriaen gedoopt met als vader Adriaan Adriaens. Hij woonde te Streefkerk. Nog in 1595 was er sprake van een grote overstroming in de Alblasserwaard. Op 18 maart breekt de dijk bij Gorinchem en zouden zeker 3000 mensen in de waard verdrinken.
