Josephus Albertus Schatteman werd geboren als  zoon van Judocus & Livina Van Waes in Sint-Kruis-Winkel tegen de Nederlandse grens. Hij trok naar Gent om daar te trouwen met Joanna Francisca De Rudder uit Ronse. Joseph Albert was Soldaat in het regiment Württemberg. Dit was een zogenaamd subsidieregiment. Deze soldaten werden ingehuurd door een vorst en daarna verhuurd. Volgens een familiale overerving zou Schatteman dus samen met zijn mede-soldaten te voet naar Moskou en Lissabon gewandeld zijn.  Joseph Albert & Francisca krijgen verschillende kinderen in de parochie van de Heilige Kerstkerk te Gent, de meeste zijn meisjes. Waaronder ook een tweeling Therese & Rosalia. Joseph Albert overleed op 36-jarige leeftijd in het militair hospitaal te Gent op 18 oktober 1793. Na het overlijden van Joseph Albert keert Francisca terug naar Ronse, waar ze spinster was. Haar zoon Isidoor zal daar ook een vrouw leren kennen.


 


Volgens de huwelijksakte van dochter Mariam was hij toen 38 jaar oud wat dus niet klopt. Haar moeder, Francisca was aanwezig bij haar huwelijk.  Wat nog meer vragen oproept is dat volgends de huwelijksakte van de zoon “Judocus Isodoor”, was zijn vader gestorven op 45-jarige leeftijd in Zwitserland.  Volgens de overlijdensakte van Joseph Albert is hij inderdaad een zoon van Judocus uit Sint-Kruis-Winkel
