Corrie Ham en Fons Janssens, beiden 71 jaar,van de Overslag vierden onlangs hun goudenhuwelijksjubileum. Corrie, afkomstig uit het Ne-derlandse Berkel en Rodenrijs en Fons uit Bornem leerden elkaar op een pinkstermaandagkennen, waarna ze op snel huwden in Bornem. Na de geboorte van hun oudste zoon beslistehet koppel dat Corrie het huishouden ging run-nen en Fons kon als kostwinner aan de slag bijTexaco in de Gentse kanaalzone. Ze verhuisdenhiervoor naar de Verbroederingslaan in Zelzate. Fons was een gepassioneerd en getalenteerdbasketspeler: bij nationaler Racing Mechelenspeelde hij aan de zijde van Willy Steveniers enwerd er tweemaal Belgisch kampioen, na zijnverhuis naar Zelzate speelde hij lang bij Silaba,daar opgevolgd door zijn jongste zoonNico.Buren herinneren zich de volle waslijnen metbasketshirts. Schilderen was de hobby van Cor-rie. Het koppel heeft twee zonen, Ronny (49) enNico (47) en kreeg met Lieselot (22), Jorrit (19)en Eline (17) drie (plus)kleinkinderen. Ronny isuitgeweken naar het West-Vlaamse Kortrijk enNico woont in de Zelzaatse Rusthuislaan.Toen hun huurhuis in de Verbroederingslaanverkocht werd gingen Corie en Fons op zoek envonden iets in 'den' Overslag, toen tegen zijnzin. Na de sluiting van Texaco Gent promo-veerde Fons en ging hij tot aan zijn pensioenwerken op een boorplatform voor de Schotsekust bij Aberdeen.Corrie en Fons zijn nog steeds sociale mensen,wekelijks gaan ze naar de markt in Zelzate enWachtebeke, op zondag aperitieven ze uitge-breid in café 't Hoeksken op den Overslag. Zemaken verschillende reizen per jaar waaronderde 'verplichte' skireis met de kinderen en klein-kinderen.
