"Zuster Norberta - Vijt Maria Mathilde.



Maria Mathilde Vijt, geboren te Kruibeke op 30 april 1899, dochter van Jozef en Paulina De Cock, treedt in het klooster van O.-L.-Vrouw Visitatie te Kruibeke op 18 augustus 1921 en profest op 22 augustus 1923. Zuster Norberta werkt 9 jaar in het hospitaal te Kruibeke, van 1924 tot 1933. Begin juni 1933 komt ze aan te Steendorp. Ze werkt er in de ziekenzorg, op de boerderij en daarnaast helpt zein de armenzorg. Ze is kloosteroverste van 1952 tot 1960. Als ze op rust gaat blijft ze nog te Steendorp tot de zusters Steendorp verlaten in 1982. Ze verblijft dus, zonder onderbreking, 49 jaar te Steendorp. Zuster Norberta vierde op 11 oktober 1981 haar diamanten kloosterjubileum. Zuster Norberta overlijdt te Gent op 23 mei 1988. Ze is dan 89 jaar."
