Petrus Van Hoof werd in 1836 te Temse geboren als zoon van Daniël Van Hoof en Seraphine Cornelis. Petrus volgde het voorbeeld van zijn ouders en ging aan de slag als landbouwer in zijn dorp Temse. In de zomer van 1871 trouwde hij in Sint-Niklaas met de dienstmeid Rosalia Heirbaut (akte 106). Beide waren ongeletterd bij hun huwelijk.


Petrus zijn broer Frans, trok naar Tielrode.


Hun zoontje Leon overleed na 5 maand in hun woning op de hoogkameren


Dochter Stephania ging naar schoenstraat temse, overleed er in 1907

Het huwelijk werd afgekondigd te Sint Niklaas en te Temse op de zondagen 02 en 09/07/1871. De bruidegom heeft aan zijn militie verplichtingen voldaan. Bruid, bruidegom, moeder van de bruidegom en de ouders van de bruid hebben verklaard niet te kunnen schrijven.
