Petrus Pauwels-Gering, alias Den Vlechter woonde vroeger in de Kloosterstraat, nu in de Breevenstraat. Petrus was volgens Pater Benedictus Van Doninckeen brave oppassend man. Sophia Gering was vroeger een dievegge. Ze stak hun kinderen op om duifjes te stelen.


Zoon Petrus Ludovicus was als 14-jarige een dief die een paar holle blokken en een paternoster stal. Op 14 juni kwam moeder Gering lameren bij de pater omdat zoonlief Petrus Ludovicus naar "t'kot" moest in Mechelen wegens de diefstal in de abdij
