Henricus, ook wel Henri Janssens, werd op 9 januari 1776 in Sint-Amands geboren als tweede zoon van Jean Janssens en Anna-Catharina Van Hoesen. Hij werd op dezelfde dag "onder voorbehoud" gedoopt door de vroedvrouw, een nooddoop. Henricus werkte als timmerman en was geletterd.


Eind 18e eeuw leerde Henricus de Bornemse spinster Maria-Anna De Wachter kennen. Het stel trouwde nog niet, maar kreeg wel hun eerste zoon, Cornelius, in 1800. Cornelius huwde op 24 juli 1822 in Mariekerke met Anna Theresia Apers (1802-1828) en na haar overlijden huwde hij op 6 maart 1833 in Mariekerke met Beatrix Joos (1807-1874). Cornelius overleed in 1846.


 


De daaropvolgende kinderen werden allen in Sint-Amands geboren. De eerste was Petrus-Joannes in 1802, die, net als zijn vader, als timmerman en winkelier werkte. Hij huwde op 27 augustus 1829 in Oppuurs met Sophia Van Wal (1805-1878). Het koppel vestigde zich in de Heydestraat 33 in Oppuurs. Op 26 juni 1855 keerde Petrus-Joannes voor korte tijd terug naar zijn geboortedorp Sint-Amands, maar hij ging terug naar zijn gezin in Oppuurs. Petrus-Joannes overleed in 1875.


 


In 1804 kregen Henricus en Maria-Anna een doodgeboren jongentje. Petrus-Josephus werd geboren in 1805. Hij werd ook timmerman, huwde op 2 juni 1830 in Sint-Amands met Barbara Bauwens (1801-), en verhuisde naar Sint-Gillis-bij-Dendermonde waar hij als schrijnwerker werkte. In 1848 werd hij samen met Jeanette Dominque Cooremans eigenaar van "HetKlein Molentje", waar hij als molenaar werkte. Petrus-Josephus overleed in 1885.


 


Vitalis Janssens werd geboren in 1807, maar hij overleed op 24-jarige leeftijd in 1831 te Sint-Amands. In 1809 werd Jan Baptist geboren, maar hijleefde slechts twee dagen. Ten tijde van zijn geboorte woonde het gezin Janssens-De Wachter in Sectie 2, nummer 113 in Sint-Amands.


 


Tien jaar na hun eerste kind werd Ludovica-Joanna Janssens geboren in 1810, de eerste dochter van het gezin. Zij bleef in Sint-Amands en huwde op23 oktober 1850 met Petrus Franciscus Verhelst (1804-). In 1812 werd een tweede dochter, Maria Joanna "Marie", geboren; zij huwde op 22 februari 1837 in Sint-Amands met landbouwer Bernard Peleman (1810-1898). Marie overleed in 1874.


 


In 1814 werd Ferdinandus "Ferdinand" geboren. Hij volgde de familietraditie en werd timmerman en schrijnwerker. Hij verhuisde naar de Bornemse Barelstraat om te huwen en wonen met herbergierster Josephina "Josephine" Cools (1819-1891). Ferdinand huwde op 26 februari 1840 in Bornem en overleed in 1883.


 


De jongste dochter, Maria Theresia, werd in 1817 geboren. Zij huwde op 29 april 1840 in Sint-Amands met Felix Valkaert (1815-). De jongste zoon, Livinus Franciscus, werd geboren in 1819. Hij werd ook timmerman en verhuisde, net als zijn broer Petrus-Joannes, naar Oppuurs, waar hij op 23 juli 1851 huwde met Adriana Roosemont (1824-).


 


In 1819 moest het oudste kind van het gezin, Cornelius, aan zijn Nationale Militie voldoen. Uit de registratie blijkt dat hij 1,65 meter lang was, een ovaal gezicht, bruine ogen, een lange neus, een grote mond en bruine haren en wenkbrauwen had. Op 24 juli 1829, na een relatie van bijna 30 jaar, huwden Henricus en Maria-Anna De Wachter in Sint-Amands. Beide waren toen 53 jaar oud en bij hun huwelijk werden alle nog levende kinderen officieel erkend door Henricus.


 


In 1831 overleed hun zoon Vitalis in wijk A nummer 105, waar drie jaar eerder ook zijn grootmoeder Catharina Van Hoesen overleed. In 1846 meldde vader Henricus in Sint-Amands het overlijden van zijn oudste zoon Cornelius. Cornelius overleed in wijk A, nummer 73, in de Botermelkstraat. Dat jaar woonden Henricus en Maria-Anna zelf ook in de Botermelkstraat (de huidige Jan Van Droogenbroeckstraat) op nummer 103. In 1846 bestond het huishouden uit Henricus Janssens, Maria-Anna De Wachter (spinster), hun dochter Ludovica (landbouwster) en hun jongste zoon Livinus-Franciscus (timmerman).


 


Naast Henricus en Marie-Anna De Wachter woonden er in de Botermelkstraat ook nog andere familieleden. Op nummer 104 woonde de weduwe, nicht en eveneens schoonzus van Henricus, Marianne Janssens (weduwe van Petrus) samen met haar kinderen. Op nummer 108 woonde Henricus’ dochter Maria, een spinster. Ook dochter Theresia en schoonzoon FelixValkaert woonden enkele huizen verder in dezelfde straat op nummer 57; Theresia werkte net als haar moeder als spinster.


 


In 1850 huwde dochter Ludovica met Petrus Franciscus Verhelst. Een jaar later huwde ook de jongste telg van het gezin, Livinus-Franciscus. Hij bleef met zijn echtgenote, de Oppuurse Adriana Roosemont, in het ouderlijk huis in de Botermelkstraat. Zo woonden in 1855 vader Henricus, moeder Maria-Anna, hun zoon Livinus, schoondochter Adriana en twee kleindochters in de ouderlijke woning in de Botermelkstraat. In 1856 overleed Maria-Anna in hun woning in de Botermelkstraat. Op haar overlijdensakte stond: "overleden in het huis staende alhier aen de Wagemans Kapel wijk A Numero 103". Vier jaar later, op 17 juli 1860, stierf Henricus Janssens op de Heydestraat 106.
