In Bazel werd later ook een Andries van Meerlaer vermeld, geboren omstreeks 1438 en in een relatie met Margriete van de Voerde.Daarnaast is er een vermelding van Barbara De Meerleer, vermoedelijk geboren rond 1666 in het Waasland. Zij huwde met Egidius Smet en werd moeder van Joannes Petrus Smet, gedoopt te Belsele op 12 augustus 1692.

De afkomst van Henricus is onbekend, maar in Temse zelf kwamen wel al jarenlang soort gelijke achternamen voor. De variant “De Meireleir” kwam echter ook al voor in de omgeving van Erpe-Mere, Heldergem en Lede. Het zou dus ook mogelijk zijn dat Henricus van die omgeving kwam. Wat vaststaat is dat Henricus rond 1704 een relatie start met Catharina Govaerts. Zij was geboren in 1674 in Temse en de dochter van Corneel en Maria Van Fraeyenhove. Haar vader, Corneel, was afkomstig uit Weert en haar moeder uit Bornem.

In 1732 hertrouwde hij met Joanna Wilsens, met wie hij zes kinderen kreeg, waaronder Petrus Joannes en Maria Joanna Martina. Na Joanna’s overlijden huwde hij in 1747 met Anna Elisabeth Riské. Uit dit derde huwelijk kwamen vier kinderen voort, waaronder Isabella Theresia. Egidius overleed op 19 februari 1754 in Temse, 46 jaar oud.

In 1737 trad Catharina Govaerts in Sint-Gillis-Waas op bij de doop van kleinzoon Petrus Joannes De Moor, in 1739 doet Henricus De Meireleir hetzelfde voor zijn broertje Joannes Franciscus De Moor. Dit kan er op wijzen dat de volledige familie De Meireleir een tijdje richting de omgeving van Sint-Gillis-Waas was getrokken? In 1742 trad Henricus echter op bij een doop in Temse, ook moeder Catharina Govaers overleed in Temse als 70-jarige op 17 september 1743. Opvallend is dat bij deze overlijdensakte Henricus een andere voornaam werd toegewezen “Adriani De Meireleir”. Op 4 maart 1762 overleed Henricus zelf op 87-jarige leeftijd, zijn begrafenis ging één dag later door.
